Returning people to the workplace during the continuing global pandemic demands new approaches to promote the health, safety, and productivity of workers in a privacy-preserving way.

CDKGlobal (India) IT head Mr. Pavagada Phanibhushan and team has come up with an app developed in-house at CDK office to ensure employee safety during the COVID-19 pandemic. All employees must declare good health through this app before resuming work from the office. The employee can declare their health status and that of their family via a self-assessment questionnaire. It also takes into account employee health status as declared by the Aarogya Setu App. Based on your responses, you will be declared fit to attend the office via a Safe Badge.

The app has a provision for employees to report an incidence which violates any COVID-19 code of conduct compliance as per CDK India Guidelines. This raises an alert to the ‘India COVID Health Committee’ which ensures that all safety advisories are followed. There is also an SOS feature that immediately alerts the emergency team to take the appropriate action. The CDK Safe app also has an ‘Information Center’ which has important guidelines and advisory to keep employees, their family and the community protected from the infection.

During our conversation with Mr. Phanibhushan IT head CDK Global (India), we try to uncover the basic protocol and guideline of the CDK ‘Safe App’.

1. As everyone is so curious about data hacking. So, how you satisfy your users to maintain the privacy or from data hacking.

Answer- CDK Safe is a web app developed in-house at CDK Global India to ensure employee safety during the COVID-19 pandemic. We have made the app hack-proof by following strict guidelines mandated by our Global Security Organization. The team has also complied with safe and secure development practices. The application went through a series of penetration tests for all possible vulnerabilities which is another key step to ensure end-to-end safety of data of users to ensure privacy. The data is stored in an encrypted format and hosted on a secure platform to ensure data security at rest and in transit.

2. What if the user fills the wrong details in the self-assessment test?

Answer The survey is trust-based, however, CDK has done abundant communication to the employees highlighting the importance of their honest responses to ensure their safety and wellness apart from that of the bigger organization and community at large.

3. Do you require any documents to confirm the user?

Answer- No, It is a simple and handy tool for an employee to take a quick self-assessment on the current status of one’s health and safety against COVID-19, and get a ‘Safe Badge’ for an employee to come in and work from the office. Additionally, the first time users have to register on the CDK Safe app via a QR code to create unique login credentials.

4. Is the user have to take tests daily before going office or its one-time test only?

Answer - All employees must take a weekly self-assessment test to declare good health through this app before resuming work from the office. Employees can declare their health status as well as that of their family via a self-assessment questionnaire. The app also takes into account the employee’s health status as declared by the Aarogya Setu App. Based on an individual’s responses, one will be declared fit to attend office via a Safe Badge.

The app also gives certain guidelines /protocols which have to be maintained within the office premises, so the basic thing is to protect and safeguard the employees from contracting the infection. And minimize the spread of the same.
