Time to say good bye to Goo.gl URL shortening service, google has launched these services in 2009, a way to help people more easily share links and measure traffic online. Now, many other popular URL shortening services have emerged and the ways people find content on the internet have also changed dramatically, from primarily desktop webpages to apps, mobile devices, home assistants, and more.
Now the company has announced to shutdown Goo.gl URL shorting services in the beginning of next month.
Service will stop working starting April 13, 2018 for anonymous users and users who have never used these service before today. After May 30, 2018, it will only be available via URL shorter APIs can short link. API users can continue to use them for a period of one year, until march 30, 2019.
Google now suggest users to go with other shortening services like Bit,ly and Ow.ly. If you are using Goo.gl for long time, now this time is with go with other URL shortening services.
